CDR, a research and development company for systems of analysing foodstuffs, will be present with the FOODLAB system , at CibusTEC in Parma from the 23 to the 27 October:Stand 69 Pavilion 1 Sector Milc.


FOODLAB is an innovative system for the rapid analysis of parameters of primary interest of milk and its derivatives , composed of an instrument using sophisticated spectrophotometry and a series of dedicated reagents, developed by the CDR research laboratories.
The system is extremely reliable and fast, with ready-to-use test tubes containing pre-dispensed reagents for the analysis of non treated milk.
FOODLAB is already used for quality control in many laboratories belonging to Public Bodies or companies involved in milk and cheese production. The method of analysis and the instrument have been subjected to assessment by Laboratory for Milk Standards of the Italian Farmers Association.(Laboratorio Standard Latte dell'Associazione Italiana Allevatori)
The instrument does not have to be used in direct contact with the milk samples. Each single test is performed by putting a minimum, predefined quantity of milk inside the test tube using a swab already inside the tube, which by way of suitable reagents produces a colorimetric reaction. The analytical procedure is thus made very simple and easy to perform even outside the laboratory , nor is any maintenance or cleansing of the instrument required.
The FOODLAB system currently identifies the presence of ammonia, urea, lactic acid and chlorides in cow's milk , sheep's milk and buffalo milk and chlorides in watery solutions used in mozzarella production lines. Other tests on milk and foodstuffs in general are at an advanced stage of development.
For the forthcoming fair in Parma, Cibustec 2001, CDR has created the Internet site www.milktest.com, as a medium for promotion and information, where technical information, methodology and an update on the tests which can be performed using the FOODLAB system are available.

Tests currently available: Urea, Lactic acid, Ammonia, Chlorides.
